Famous Nigerians

BOLAJI BADEJO

Bolaji Badejo played the creature in the 1979 movie Alien. He was born in Lagos, Nigeria on August 23, 1953. The actor died of Sickle cell anemia in Nigeria on December 22, 1992. His height 6′ 10″ secured his role in the movie. He was discovered at a bar by a member of the film crew. The director wanted the alien creature in the movie to look as realistic as possible. He did not want the audience to feel it was a costume. It was very hard to get someone to put on the body suit and fit properly. The suit was specifically made for his tall and skinny frame. He had no acting experience but took mime and tai’ chi classes to make his movement convincing.
